Core modules from the MSc/PGDip in Sleep Medicine may be taken as standalone short courses, usually approximately 6 weeks in length

  • Short courses are available to those who wish to study selected aspects of sleep medicine to support their clinical or research practice.
  • These courses are individual modules drawn from the Oxford Online Programme in Sleep Medicine, hosted by the Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute (SCNi) in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, at the University of Oxford.

What is the structure of the course?

  • Short Course students can take 1-3 of the 8 core MSc/PGDip in Sleep Medicine modules
  • Click here for more details on these 8 core modules
  • Please note that preparation work will usually be required at least one week before the course begins and that submission deadlines for assessments will be in March or July.
  • For fees see bottom of page.

How are the courses delivered?

  • The short courses are taught entirely online
  • Weekly recorded lectures from experts in the field
  • Live online weekly discussion groups at 12pm or 7pm UK time
  • Academic support via 1:1 meetings with a course academic advisor
  • Pastoral support via departmental systems

Where do these courses lead?

  • Students who successfully complete 1-3 short courses can then apply to convert them to the PGDip for further study (within the subsequent 3 years)
  • The courses are aimed at working healthcare professionals who have scope to introduce sleep medicine into their practice or those who wish to pursue an academic career in sleep research/circadian biology.
  • The programme however does not in itself confer a licence to practise. You would be expected to practise within your own professional codes and the boundaries of your professional certification.

WHAT ARE THE COURSE FEES?

  • All short courses are charged at 25% of the home/overseas fee for the PGDip
  • 2025/26 entry: £1951.25 home or £3006.25 overseas
  • 2026/27 entry: £1975.00 home or £3068.75 overseas
